While completing courses at the University of Florida, I have been pushed to come up with creative solutions to problems I am typically do not run into when working on personal projects. My mechanical design classes have allowed me to work with other students and compare ideas. These projects push me to think out of the box and expand my view of the field. Below I have some examples of past projects I have worked on in my classes.
In my Mechanical Design class, we were tasked with making an automatic can opener as a final project. We completed the project in groups and my group decided on a design that would grip onto the can using a puncture that would initial when a button is pressed. A drive wheel would then pull the opener along the circumference of the can and a magnet would hold the lid to prevent it from falling into the open can.
